Admission at The University of Tulsa

Application Process

The University of Tulsa is home to ambitious learners of diverse backgrounds and experiences who seek impactful roles as leaders and innovators.

Are you eager to experience transformative online education at TU? Here’s the process you can expect when applying to our programs.

  1. Complete the short form on the Apply Now page to initiate the application process.

  2. Create your account and begin your application for admission.

  3. Upload unofficial transcripts for preliminary credit review by the registrar. Undergraduate applicants must provide transcripts from all institutions attended in order to be eligible for admission. Graduate applicants are required to submit transcripts from the institution that awarded their bachelor’s degree.

  4. Request official transcripts for final credit review:

    • Electronic transcripts: Send directly to onlinetranscripts@utulsa.edu or through a transcript service provider by selecting the “Online Admissions” option* for The University of Tulsa.

    • Paper transcripts:

    *Note: If “Online Admissions” is not selected when ordering electronic transcripts, this will result in a delayed admission decision.


  5. Once you submit your completed application with all required materials, you can expect a response by email within 48-72 hours.

M.S. in Cyber Security Admission Requirements

Please review the following requirements for admission to the online M.S. in Cyber Security.

  • A completed application for admission

  • Unofficial transcripts from the institution that conferred your bachelor’s degree.

  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution

  • An undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • At least nine hours of mathematics and statistics at the level of calculus and above

Undergraduate nursing program admission requirements

To be considered for admission to TU’s online undergraduate nursing programs, the following application materials are required.

ABSN

  • A completed application for admission
  • Unofficial college transcripts from all institutions attended
  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is required for the Accelerated BSN program*
  • Accelerated BSN students must hold professional liability insurance and health insurance for clinicals

RN to BSN

  • A completed application for admission
  • Unofficial college transcripts from all institutions attended
  • An associate degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution and an active, unencumbered RN license

*TU is currently accepting ABSN applications from residents of Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Transfer Credit Guidelines for Undergraduate Nursing Programs

Please note the total credit hours required may vary based on your individual official transcript evaluations and/or professional portfolio credit worksheet.

ABSN (120 total credit hours)

  • 23 transferable credit hours are required for admission. TU waives 31 credits of general coursework for ABSN students.

  • Electives and block credits are transferable

  • Non-nursing credits earned from regionally accredited colleges and universities are generally transferable if:

    • A grade of ‘C’ or better has been earned in the course
    • The University of Tulsa offers a comparable course
  • Pass/fail courses are not transferable unless a grad of ‘C’ or better can be documented

  • The remaining 66 credit hours of the degree program must be completed at TU

RN to BSN (120 total credit hours)

  • TU core curriculum courses are waived for any students who have a previous conferred bachelor’s degree or associate degree of arts or sciences from a regionally accredited institution

  • 50 transferable credit hours may be applied toward general education coursework

    • Electives and block credits are transferable
    • Non-nursing credits earned from regionally accredited colleges and universities are generally transferable if:
      • A grade of ‘C’ or better has been earned in the course
      • The University of Tulsa offers a comparable course
    • Pass/fail courses are not transferable unless a grade of ‘C’ or better can be documented
  • An associate degree in nursing and an active and unencumbered RN license are required for admission (equivalent to 22 transferable credit hours of foundational nursing coursework)

  • Up to 18 transferable credit hours may be awarded upon submission and review of a professional portfolio; RN to BSN students may apply for professional credit evaluation at any time while enrolled

  • The remaining 30 credit hours of the RN to BSN program must be completed at TU

RN to MSN Pathway (155 total credit hours)

  • 50 transferable credit hours may be applied toward general education coursework

    • Electives and block credits are transferable
    • Non-nursing credits earned from regionally accredited colleges and universities are generally transferable if:
      • A grade of ‘C’ or better has been earned in the course
      • The University of Tulsa offers a comparable course
    • Pass/fail courses are not transferable unless a grade of ‘C’ or better can be documented
  • An associate degree in nursing and an active and unencumbered RN license are required for admission (equivalent to 22 transferable credit hours of foundational nursing coursework)

  • Up to 18 transferable credit hours may be awarded upon submission and review of a professional portfolio; RN to BSN students may apply for professional credit evaluation at any time while enrolled

  • The remaining 35 credit hours of the RN to BSN program must be completed at TU

  • Graduates of TU’s RN to BSN program with a 3.0 or greater GPA enjoy priority admission to the online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). The MSN requires an additional 30 credit hours.

Graduate Nursing Program Admission Requirements

The University of Tulsa serves nurses who want to advance into leadership roles within the health care system, as well as advanced practice nurses who want to become dual-certified and increase their scope of practice. To be considered for admission to TU’s online graduate programs, the following application materials are required.

MSN:

  • Completed application for admission ($60 application fee)

  • Unofficial college transcripts from all institutions attended

  • Documentation of an active, unencumbered registered nurse license

  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from a regionally accredited nursing program*

    • Students with international transcripts must provide an evaluation from World Education Services (www.wes.org)

AGACNP:

  • A completed application for admission ($60 application fee)
  • Unofficial college transcripts from all institutions attended
  • Documentation of an active, unencumbered registered nurse license
  • A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from a regionally accredited institution
  • AGACNP students must hold professional liability insurance and health insurance for clinicals

*Graduates of TU’s Accelerated BSN program with a 3.0 or greater GPA who pass the NCLEX-RN® are granted priority admission to the online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program. Graduates of TU’s RN to BSN program with a 3.0 or greater GPA are granted priority admission to the online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program
